Lipidox 20 mg & 50 mg is pegylated liposomal Doxorubicin used to treat Kaposi’s sarcoma and metastatic ovarian cancer. It is also sometimes used for other types of cancer, such as multiple myeloma.
Doxorubicin liposome is part of the general group of chemotherapy drugs known as anthracycline antibiotics. Doxorubicin liposome is doxorubicin surrounded by a special covering made of fat (liposome). This covering helps the drug escape damage by the body’s immune system, so that it can go directly to the cancer. Doxorubicin liposome slows or stops the growth of cancer cells.
Each ampoule of Lipo-Dox® contains 2 mg/ml pegylated liposomal doxorubicin HCl; a 10ml ampoule package contains 20mg active ingredient. It is sterile and dark red solution for single intravenous drip injection.
Note: The Lipodox was approved for import in the United States by USFDA in the month of February, 2014.
